Abstract
Understanding the factors that contribute to the escalation or de-escalation of aggression in conflicts is crucial for any prevention strategy. This is particularly important in societies like Colombia, where the common use of violence during interpersonal conflicts has contributed to making it one of the most violent countries in the world1. One of the factors that have been associated with the escalation of aggression is the role played by third parties during interpersonal conflicts.
