Spark-Chamber Spectrometry of High-Energy Photons and Electrons
Chapter
Abstract
The article outlines the results of research performed on numerous spark chambers which were used as spectrometers for electrons and photons having energies of 50–200 MeV. The characteristics of the electromagnetic cascade in a chamber with lead plates were studied. It could be shown that a multi-layer spark chamber with Plexiglas plates can be used as a flight-path spectrometer for electrons and photons (energy resolution 35%).
