In nuclear collision events the cross section for reactions, and the direction of emission of the reaction products subsequent to the reaction depend on the direction of the nuclear spins just prior to the event. This makes it possible to control the reactivity of a plasma to some extent, as well as to influence the fate of the reaction products, by orienting the spins of the nuclei in various directions relative to the confining magnetic field B. This may be done in such a way so as to improve the plasma performance. A plasma is a spin polarized plasma if its nuclei are so oriented.
