Abstract

The term commissioning entered the building system lexicon owing to the problems that owners increasingly encountered with new systems. As interest in commissioning grew, the focus remained mostly on activities that occur after systems have been installed and placed in operation. Commissioning of building systems literally means “simulating adverse conditions, performing and documenting test results and verifying the performance of systems so that systems interoperate in conformity with the design intent.”
