Abstract

The species included are foxtail millet or Italian millet, Setaria italica (L.) Beauv. (syn. Chaeotchloa italica (L.) Scrib.); browntop millet, Panicum miliaceum L.; Japanese millet or sawan millet, Echinochloa crusgalli var. frumentacea (Rozb.) Wright; jungle rice millet, E. colonum (L.) Link; pearl millet or bajra, Pennisetum glaucum (L.) R. Br.; and finger millet, ragi, or African millet, Eleusine coracana (L.) Gaertn. Certain diseases are reported to affect some millets. Any differences between millets in susceptibility to pathogens are noted in the text, if known.
