Macrokinetics and Reactor Design for the Industrial Application of Enzymes in L-Amino Acid Production
When enzymes are used in continuous reactors a continuous analytical method is desirable. Since enzymatically catalysed reactions often take place at an asymmetric carbon atom polarimetry appears to be a very promising method. For macrokinetic measurements and continuous process control a method with a physical signal, high selectivity, high reproducibility, favorable sensitivity and favorable cost is desired. Since automatic polarimeters with a reproducibility of ± 1 millidegree are obtainable, the above requirements can be fulfilled to a great extent.
