Abstract
The primary objective of this study, undertaken at the request of Community Planning Boards of New York City, was to develop recommendations for improving the design of Bryant Park (Figure 45). Originally designed in 1934, the park offered a unique opportunity to assess the relevance of design principles and assumptions from the 1930s in the context of user and nonuser perceptions in the 1970s.
