Abstract
Although the fact that a market for economic policy advice exists would presumably suggest that it is a business that actually adds value, there is nevertheless a large and controversial literature both on the position of the advisor and on the question of how advice should be given, let alone fundamental issues such as whether economics as a science is reliable enough to guide economic policy, and the like.
