Abstract
In this chapter, we study the enclosure of all homogeneous azeotropes in multicomponent mixtures. Section 24.1 introduces the reader to the importance of locating all azeotropes problem and outlines the previous work. Section 24.2 defines the problem. Section 24.3 introduces the general mathematical formulation. Section 24.4 focuses on the activity coefficient models of the Wilson equation, the NRTL equation, the UNIQUAC equation, and the UNIFAC equation, presents the resulting mathematical models and develops the underestimating functions for these models. Finally, section 24.5 presents selective computational studies for all aforementioned activity coefficient models. The material presented in this chapter is based on the work of Harding et al. (1997).
