Abstract

New information about neutrophil stimulation has accumulated since this review was written. The Ca2+ probe Quin 2 has come into general use. There is a rapid rise in intracellular Ca2+ to at least μM within 5 sec. The elevation comes largely from intracellular sources, requires occupancy of only ∼1 percent of the formyl peptide receptors, but is transient unless new receptors are occupied.
