Gates, Chutes, and Spouts; Bins and Hoppers

  • Jacob Fruchtbaum

Gates are normally used on the bottom or sides of bins, tanks, or hoppers to feed material onto conveyors for further processing, or into trucks or railroad cars for shipment to other points. Numerous styles of gates are available. Many of these are general-purpose gates suitable for handling coal, sand, crushed stone, etc.
