Abstract

Replacement analysis is performed to ensure that equipment and facilities are not kept beyond their economic lives. Economic life is the time over which an item is the least-cost alternative for meeting its objective. If kept beyond its economic life, an item may continue to give service, but a replacement could do the job more cost effectively.
