Abstract
Two-tone otoacoustic distortion product measurements are usually made without reference to the stimulus frequency emissions being generated at the same time. Similarly the suppression of a stimulus frequency emission by a second tone is usual reported without reference to distortion product generation. However in general both stimulus and distortion product components result when two tones pass through a nonlinear transmission path. Data on both are needed to test models of the underlying mechanism.
