Topic Area: Women and Mathematics
The four sessions on Women and Mathematics provided an opportunity to review the status of women and mathematics from an international perspective, particularly the current situation of girls in schools, with respect to participation and performance in mathematics classes. The Second International Mathematics Study enabled several contributors to compare experiences and results in their country with others also involved in the study. In general, SIMS provided an opportunity to examine the state-of-the-art on an extensive international basis.
