Abstract
In recent years the popularity of competitions at regional, national, and international levels has increased greatly. Competitions can be an instrument for highlighting the importance of learning mathematics both at the school level and within the community. A series of four panel sessions reflected the variety and flavour of competitions that are offered around the world. Competitions aimed at primary students to university students, from small local contests to prestigious international events, and from a radio quiz to a mathematical relay, feature in the reports that follow.
