Abstract

Clinicians involved in the treatment of children with tumors require diagnostic imaging methods for staging, monitoring effects of treatment, determining optimum timing for definitive surgical procedures or other changes in treatment, and early detection of recurrence. Traditionally, gallium-67 (67Ga) has been the mainstay of pediatric tumor scintigraphy. Thallium-201 (201Tl) and more recently technetium-99m (99mTc)-sestamibi are being used for imaging a wide variety of pediatric primary and metastatic tumors of bone, soft tissue, head and neck, and lymphoma.
