Abstract
An adequate brain biopsy consists of approximately a 1-mm2 surface area and a full thickness plug of cerebral parenchyma containing cortex and white matter, generally 1 1/2 to 2 cm in length. This gives the pathologist between 1.30 and 1.45 cc of tissue.
