Today’s health care organizations are under tremendous stress. Forces such as the current explosions in medical and information technology, the demands of employees for empowerment, financial crises, and demands for major system reform are all forcing today s health care organizations to realize that major change is necessary to be more effective in the future. Many of these organizations affected by significantly changing environmental pressures will have to modify their organizational behaviors and even their structures in major ways.
