Abstract

For nurses, this is the ideal time to enter the field of health care information systems. Prospective payment has stressed not only the need for financial reporting, but also the importance of date collection and order communications systems. Systems are being developed to address nursing productivity issues as well as to provide acuity measures. Point-of-care, bedside terminal systems are surfacing and gaining the attention of the industry.
