Role of Radiology in Rehabilitation of Swallowing

The preceding chapters have explored the contribution of radiology to multidisciplinary diagnostic evaluation of patients with swallowing impairment. Radiology also has a vital role in their rehabilitation. Although a variety of imaging modalities are employed for diagnostic assessment, dynamic imaging is most useful for analyzing the character and degree of disability. Dynamic imaging reveals the functional status of individual elements in the swallowing chain and the utility of specific therapeutic and compensatory techniques.
