Postinfarction Ventricular Septal Defect

  • Chapter
Manual of Cardiac Surgery

Abstract

Rupture of the ventricular septum is a rare but devastating complication of myocardial infarction. Recent advances in perioperative support, myocardial preservation, and technique of repair have improved surgical results in a lesion that was almost always lethal prior to the advent of surgical therapy.
