Abstract
Today’s healthcare organizations are under tremendous stress. Forces such as the current explosions in medical and information technology, the demands of employees for empowerment, financial crises, and demands for major system reform are all forcing today’s healthcare organizations to realize that major change is necessary to be more effective in the future. Esteemed national groups are saying that the current healthcare organizations need major changes to be able to effectively take care of their medical populations. All organizations affected by these significantly changing environmental pressures will have to modify their organizational behaviors and even their structures in major ways.
