Abstract
In the previous chapters, we have considered the philosophy of the family physician, the concept of family, the principles of family medicine, and some thoughts about family practice. But all the years of training during medical school and the family practice residency, and indeed the very concept of family practice as a specialty are focused on a single moment— the encounter between a patient and the family physician. This is the wedding of family medicine principles and practice, the rendering of care by a single family physician to the patient in the context of family.
The secret of the care of the patient is in caring for the patient.
