Rheumatology deals with a variety of musculoskeletal disorders ranging from benign complaints to serious connective tissue disease. Because of the prevalence of rheumatic disease, family physicians attend the majority of patients. In the United States alone some 22 million patients with rheumatic disorders spend over 13 billion dollars yearly on health care. More significant is the devastation of arthritis on the quality of their lives and on their families (3, 8, 10) .
