Abstract

Except for the thyroid and the male gonads, the endocrine glands are internal organs. The diagnosis of abnormality of endocrine secretion is often based, not on palpable hypertrophy or atrophy of the particular gland, but on suspicion aroused by suggestive history and physical changes as well as abnormalities of appropriately chosen laboratory tests.
