Abstract
One of the most effective components for the healthful well being of a living organism is effective communication. The sudden drop in fetal heart-rate as perceived on a fetal monitor of a pregnant woman in labor, the grunt of a starving pup before a nonsensing mother, the bristling of quills on a threatened porcupine, the careful listening to a troubled patient, and the articulate dictation to a medical secretary all exemplify how effective communication plays a major role in daily living and in a physician’s attempt to maintain the healthy well being of his patients.
