Abstract

Iris neovascularization and neovascular glaucoma following pars plana vitrectomy for diabetic retinopathy have been major complications during the early postoperative course. A retrospective analysis of diabetic vitrectomy cases, and a prospective randomized study find a direct relationship between postvitrectomy aphakia and the development of iris neovascularization and secondary glaucoma.
