Transceiver Architecture

The transceiver architecture is one of the most challenging aspects of the design, impacting complexity, cost, power dissipation, and the number of external components. In this chapter, we describe common receiver architectures including heterodyne, homodyne, and image-reject systems. Next, we review transmitters, focusing on direct-conversion and two-step topologies and finally present the transceiver architecture.
