Abstract
Efficient RF power amplifiers are critical components in modern low-power transceivers for wireless communications. A majority of portable wireless systems employ complex algorithms that necessitate the adjustment of the transmitted power. In such systems, battery lifetime is strongly influenced by the power efficiency at power levels below the maximum output power, where most traditional amplifier architectures suffer from a large fall-off in efficiency.
