Intelligent Agents for Document Categorization and Adaptive Filtering Using a Neural Network Approach and Fuzzy Logic

  • Chapter
Knowledge-Based Information Retrieval and Filtering from the Web

Part of the book series: The Springer International Series in Engineering and Computer Science ((SECS,volume 746))

Abstract

This chapter presents a multi-agent system for document categorization and adaptive filtering. A neural network approach is proposed to automate the process of agent-based categorization and adaptive filtering of electronic information sources from the WWW. Results from training and testing those networks are presented and discussed. Fuzzy logic is used to handle impreciseness in agent communication and collaboration.
