Abstract
Without convection, dendritic growth only involves the thermodynamic process, and is governed just by the heat conduction equation. This subject has been fully explored in the monograph (Xu, 1997). For the sake of self-containment and convenience of the readers, in this chapter we shall give a fairly detailed discussion for this topic with some re-fined derivations.
