Part of the Genetic Algorithms and Evolutionary Computation book series (GENA, volume 7)

The last chapter was methodological, arguing that the design of effective GAs—the design of complex conceptual machines of all kinds—requires both clarity of aims and the application of an effective design method. In this chapter, we outline the goals of our GA design efforts and consider the elements of an integrated theory of selectorecombinative GA design.
