Decomposition analysis of a Four-Gear speed reducer design: DFMo case study

  • Chapter
Product Design for Modularity

Abstract

The design for modularity approach is tested and validated using a test product. The selected test product is of moderate complexity to ensure that effort is focused on applying and validating the proposed approach rather than on attempting to understand a complex product. Maintaining moderate complexity will also show the potential for using the proposed approach in designing complex products or systems.
