Transient Tyrosine Hydroxylase Expression in the Non-Catecholaminergic Neurons of Pre- and Post-Natal Mice

Abstract

In the 8th ICAS, we reported “Immunocytochemical evidence of novel catecholamine- or biopterin-related neurons of mammalian brain” (Nagatsu et al., 1998). Here we report transient appearance of tyrosine hydroxylase-immunoreactive (TH-ir) cells in the non-catecholaminergic regions in mice (anterior olfactory n., striatum, medial geniculate n, paraventricular n., dorsomedial hypothalamic n., spinal sensory trigeminal n.) simultaneously with expression of GTP cyclohydrolase I (GCH), aromatic L-amino acid decarboxylase (AADC), and dopamine (DA).
