Abstract
Individuals who believe in a just world are motivated to strive for justice and can trust in being treated fairly by others. This trust in the fairness of others serves as an important resource in everyday life. A high BJW fulfills vital functions such as facilitating engagement in long-term goals, promoting achievement behavior, strengthening one’s trust in other people and society as a whole, and reducing feelings of anger. Most of these functions mediate the BJW’s adaptive effect on mental health.
