Indications and Results of Liver Transplantation for Primary and Metastatic Liver Cancer

  • Chapter

Part of the book series: Cancer Treatment and Research ((CTAR,volume 109))

Abstract

Orthotopic liver transplantation (OLT) has become an established treatment for end-stage liver disease (ESLD), acute liver failure, and malignant tumors. Transplantation for hepatic malignancies is indicated in the setting of either unresectible lesion(s), or coexistent cirrhosis resulting in both inadequate hepatic reserve and prohibitive portal hypertension.
