Olive Oil Consumption and Cancer Mortality in Italy

Total dietary fat and animal fat intakes are frequently positively associated with site specific cancer mortality, the most common association being found with cancer of the breast, colon and prostate. Results from epidemiological studies are, however, controversial with respect to the relationship between total dietary fat consumption and breast cancer risk; there is more agreement that a high fat diet is associated with prostate cancer.1
