Part of the Nonconvex Optimization and Its Applications book series (NOIA, volume 46)

From this chapter to the next two chapters we will introduce neural network applications in continuous optimization. By the term ‘continuous optimization’ we mainly cover linear programming, quadratic programming and general nonlinear programming. Since there are so much materials ranging from the conventional circuit theory to the modern artificial neural network theory, we will limit the discussion of the neural network application on optimization in a class of so called canonical neural networks, a term first used in [346].
