An Epistemology of Conscious, Self-Guided Evolution

  • Bela H. Banathy
Part of the Contemporary Systems Thinking book series (CST)

The key task of this work is to propose an approach to conscious, self-guided evolution. The task is absolutely not to propose a particular evolutionary future, but rather a possible approach to creating our evolutionary future. Developing an evolutionary epistemology requires the exploration of evolutionary knowledge, the acquisition of evolutionary thinking, and the attainment of evolutionary consciousness. The material presented in the previous chapters aimed to create evolutionary knowledge. In addition, completing the activities in those chapters enabled you to acquire evolutionary thinking and gain evolutionary consciousness. The work we have accomplished heretofore has also generated an acceptance of the idea of transcending the existing evolutionary state and engaging in conscious, self-guided evolution.
