Endovascular Suite Design

  • Edward B. Diethrich

Advancements in the field of endovascular surgery have altered the treatment of vascular disease substantially over the last 20 years. Endovascular interventions now incorporate techniques that employ highly specialized imaging and monitoring equipment as well as numerous disposable devices. Balloon angioplasty, for example, requires extensive use of fluoroscopic visualization and employs low-profile sheaths, guidewires, catheters, and balloons. More recently, the introduction of stents has furthered our ability to provide lasting results with percutaneous procedures. Endoluminal graft technology, still early in its evaluation, is likely to make an even greater impact on endoluminal treatment of vascular disease.
