Particles as Waves

Abstract

We have seen that waves can act like particles. The energy of light waves is packaged in quanta, which we call photons. Photons can scatter from electrons like tiny hard objects. If this behavior is not surprising or mysterious enough, we now find that particles can act like waves. Electrons, protons, neutrons, and atoms of all kinds can exhibit interference; they show all the same kinds of patterns that waves do.
