The Electrochemical Behavior of Ruthenium Oxide (RuO2) as a Material for Electrochemical Capacitors

  • Chapter
Electrochemical Supercapacitors

Abstract

Ruthenium is an element giving rise to many compounds having interesting and often unique properties (e.g., its complexes with N-containing ligands and its oxide, RuO2) which are usually nonstoichiometric. The element was discovered by K. K. Klaus of the University of Kazan in 1844 and named ruthenium after Ruthenia, the place where it was found.
