The purpose of the initial post-op assessment is to identify and treat perioperative complications before they become complicated. It is important to maintain a wide view of the potential complications so that none are overlooked. This requires awareness of both the patient’s comorbidities and what we (the anesthetic and surgical teams) have done to the patient.
