A Study of the Space Shuttle Scheduling Problem
The Space Shuttle Program of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) is an extensive strategic and scientific research and development undertaking, with aspirations of flying routinely in space. This program will provide support to various activities such as the installation and manning of the space station, missions to Mars and the Lunar base. It is unique in the sense that most of its components are reusable and there is no precedence for such activity in space. The program continues to grow, in size and complexity, thus increases the need for better planning and scheduling capabilities. The use of such tools will assist in making engineering and management decisions while easing pressures on the whole system.
