Application of Multivariate Techniques to Assess the Relationship between Organizational Culture and Innovation Process

Abstract

Multivariate techniques have been applied to assess the impact of organizational culture on the innovative behavior. The results of Principal Component Analysis point out that six main factors can represent the various dimensions of organizational culture: the rewarding for the achievement of goals, the risk undertaken by the managers, the pro-activity, the achievement of goals, the participation in decisionmaking and the investigation of new opportunities. Besides, innovative behavior can be measured by three significant factors reflecting the dimensions of innovativeness: number of innovations, frequency of innovations and perceived significance of innovations implemented. Canonical Analysis results suggest that innovative behavior is positively correlated to the organizational culture.
