The Spin Hamiltonian and Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy

Abstract

In this chapter, principles of magnetic resonance are briefly summarized for those who have no practical experience in this field of spectroscopy. I think that various definitions of spin-Hamiltonian parameters are generally complex and too specific for nonspecialists, and therefore in this chapter I discuss briefly their physical origins, which is considered as a preparatory introduction to what follows, where phase transitions are viewed as implied by magnetic resonance results. Those readers who are already familiar with the language of magnetic resonance can therefore skip this chapter to proceed directly to Chapter 9.
