Abstract
The need for wireless packet communication systems is increasing in the local area and for access networks, as data and integrated services networking are becoming more widely available. Addressing this need poses significant problems in lower layers of the communications networking hierarchy. This paper addresses these issues and points to the technical problems that need to be solved in order to implement efficient wireless packet systems.
