Abstract
Women experience dramatic physiologic changes during pregnancy, birth and delivery, and the postpartum period. Although it seems obvious that the management of pregnancy can be complex in a woman with a chronic neurologic disorder, surprisingly little has been written about the subject. This chapter has been organized to review available information regarding gestation, birth and delivery, and the puerperium in women with the following neurologic conditions: cerebrovascular disease, paraplegia, migraine headache, low back pain, epilepsy, movement disorders, traumatic brain injuries, multiple sclerosis, neuromuscular disease, and neoplastic disease affecting the central nervous system.
