Abstract

All JSP structure diagrams are constructed from a single basic building block (Fig. 2.1). It is possible to combine such building blocks in a hierarchical manner to represent either data or processes; hence jsp structure diagrams can be used to represent data files for input and output, and from this foundation the structure of a program that will transform input data into output can be obtained (Fig. 2.2). It is important that the data structures are created first, rather than attempting to write code too early in the design of a program. The structure of the program is determined by the structure of the data. The processes will have associated instructions that can be implemented in a programming language.
