Text environments

There are three types of text environments in LATEX:
  1. 1.

    displayed text environments: the text in the environment is displayed and usu­ally separated from the text before and after by some vertical space;

  2. 2.

    text environments that create a “large symbol”;

  3. 3.

    style and size environments.
